Grades K-1

  • October – “Citizenship” - focus on the flag, showing respect for the flag and why we salute and pledge the flag
  • November – “Learning to Get Along” – focus on caring for others
  • December – “Self -Esteem” – focus on the good qualities in each and liking themselves
  • January – “Resolving Conflicts” - focus on tattling vs. reporting
  • February – “Diversity” - focus on words are not for hurting
  • March – “Stranger Awareness” - focus on not talking to strangers
  • April – SAT10/ARMT Testing
  • May – “Exploring Your Future” - focus on careers

Grades 2-5

  • October – “Staying Safe” – focus on drug awareness
  • November – “Learning to Get Along” - focus on bullying and tolerance
  • December – “Getting It Together” – focus on study skills and organization
  • January – “Resolving Conflicts” - focus on conflict resolution/anger management
  • February – “Diversity” - learning about multiculturalism
  • March – “Ability, Aptitude and You” - focus on test preparation and learning styles
  • April – SAT10/ARMT Testing
  • May – “Exploring Your Future” - focus on careers

Character Education

August 10th – September 10th – Honesty
September 13th – October 29th – Respect
November 1st – December 17th – Responsibility
January 4th – February 11th – Fairness
February 14th – April 1st – Caring
April 4th – May 26th – Citizenship

Review of all character traits covered throughout the year. Classroom teachers are responsible for spending 10-15 minutes per day on the character education characteristic for the month. Students are to set character goals each Monday of the week.
